A Trip into the Past
The students took a field trip to the historical hotel as part of a course requirement so they can compare, solve, and apply the knowledge acquired in class with a real project example.
Soltek Superintendent, Patrick English led the group of 45 students on this educational tour of the hotel while in its final stages. This field trip gave the students a chance to ask questions while providing them with a real opportunity to interact with an active contractor and personnel which will benefit the students when they are out in a working environment.
Ken Walsh, Program Director at SDSU stated that, “The students really learned a lot, and commented on the enthusiasm Pat showed for the industry and the project.” This experience will go a long way with these students as they continue on to a career in the construction industry.
