CVN Maintenance Complex
The ribbon cutting ceremony of the CVN Maintenance Complex demonstrated the Navy’s effort to improve efficiency and quality of work life for Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility personnel. The $19.5 million, multi-use project support facility provides 61,462-sf in a three-story building, encompassing shop areas, project administrative office areas, and much needed outdoor covered storage.
“MILCON projects not only create more effective and efficient work environments, but also increase the quality of work life for our civilian work force and our Sailors,” said Captain Dan Peters, Commander, Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility. “This is one more example of how we are working on maintaining fleet readiness.”
By co-locating the functions, materials, and personnel necessary to support dry-docking planned incremental availabilities (DPIA’s), this facility will decrease the transit time of the work force and increase accessibility to materials and shop support. It will also improve the quality of work life by providing expanded restroom facilities, personal and hazmat showers and lockers rooms, cafeteria and vending services, and eating areas.
