Light Armored Battalion Facilities, Armory & Vehicle Maintenance Building (LAR) Completed

The P-035 Light Armored Battalion Facilities, Armory and Vehicle Maintenance Building (LAR) project at Marine Corps Base (MCB), Camp Pendleton was completed ahead of schedule and accepted by the Government on February 2, 2009. The project involved the construction of an approximately 11,000 square foot single story Armory building and 11,200 square foot Vehicle Maintenance shop. Both the Armory building and Maintenance building consist of split face and precision CMU block, cast-in-place concrete foundations and slab on grade. Columns, metal roof panels and decks with metal stud structural framing were also constructed for both buildings. The Armory building will be primarily used for the storage and distribution of weapons and includes operable weapon rack distribution systems. Exterior weapons cleaning and assembly tables with pre-finished metal roofs were also provided. The Maintenance building will function as a service shop for light armored vehicles and includes storage space for tools and parts. Office space and restrooms were built in both buildings.

Congratulations to Bob Thompson, Terry Slane, Mark Pracanica, Rory Van Nuis, Xinia Cross, Cindy Thompson, Pete Winter, James Brown, Willy Naylor and all the LAR team members for making this an outstanding project.
