Recycling Efforts at BEQ Buildings 31512 and 31513

On two separate occasions 12 loads of broken concrete were hauled in two five yard dump trucks to Area 14. This concrete would have ended up as waste at a landfill but instead will be efficiently recycled by being crushed and used as base. This recycling effort greatly reduces the impact to the landfills during this renovation.

BEQ Buildings 31512 and 31513 at Marine Corps Base (MCB) Camp Pendleton were awarded in September 2008 and include repairs and renovations to two BEQ buildings. Work is underway with the removal and upgrades to the mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems along with structural seismic upgrades and installation of fire alarms and sprinklers.

This combined effort is another example of Soltek’s commitment to the environment and continued achievement of LEED certification on its projects.
