Soltek Pacific was the recipient of two 2005 Associated General Contractor, (AGC), Build San Diego Awards, at the AGC awards ceremony, held on Thursday, October 20, 2005 at the Manchester Grand Hyatt in downtown San Diego.
The Build San Diego Awards recognize AGC member's outstanding construction projects. Winners are selected based on the following criteria: excellence in project management; innovation in construction techniques or materials; excellence in client service; contractor's contribution to the community, and the contractor's ability to overcome project challenges.
Soltek Pacific's Tecate Border Station Expansion and Renovation, was presented with a Build San Diego Award for "Excellence in Building Construction for Unique Special Project". This $11.3 million project involved the construction of a state-of-the art, secure border crossing, and preservation of the existing 1933 historical structure. Soltek also received a Merit Award for "Excellence in Building Construction for Public Work", for their P-254 Bachelor Enlisted Quarters - Palmer Hall, Naval Station San Diego project. The Palmer Hall project involved the design and construction of a $37.2 million, twelve-story living quarters, which created additional housing for over 1,000 bachelor enlisted personnel. The building was dedicated to the memory of SN Lakiba Nicole Palmer, killed aboard the USS Cole, October 12, 2000.
