Building Connections Beyond the Jobsite Fence!

Building Connections Beyond the Jobsite Fence!

The initiative began in January with the first school reading at Fulton Elementary. Since then, Soltek has continued bringing Sally’s story to local students, with additional visits to Barnard Mandarin Magnet Elementary and, most recently, Baker Elementary.

At each visit, Emma read Sally the Soltek Superintendent to kindergarten and first-grade classrooms, helping students better understand the construction happening on their campuses in a fun and age-appropriate way. Soltek also donated copies of the book to students and classrooms, extending the impact of each visit beyond the reading itself.

Helping Students See the Story Behind Work

Sally The Soltek Superintendent follows Sally, a Soltek super intendent, and her project team, including Paige the Project Manager and Eric the Project Engineer, through a day on a whole site modernization project. Along the way, young readers are introduced to construction concepts like PPE, RFIs, safety protocols, great teamwork practices, and the many roles that help bring a school project to life.

By reading books at schools where Soltek is actively working, the initiative helps students connect with the improvement staking place around them and see the people, planning, and teamwork behind the work.

More Than 100 Books Donated

So far, Soltek has visited and read to students at three schools and donated more than 100 books across the campuses. These story time visits reflect Soltek’s continued commitment not only to improving educational facilities, but also to give back to the students within their walls.

Laying Foundations for Curious Minds

Through Sally the Soltek Superintendent, students are  learning that construction is about more than hard hats, tools, and equipment. It is about teamwork, safety, problem-solving, and the people working together to create better places to learn.

As this initiative continues, Sally is helping build curiosity, connection, and excitement around the work happening just beyond the jobsite fence.
