Rooted in Community : A Garden Saved

At Soltek, serving our community has always been about more than construction. As a local company since 1974, we take pride in going above and beyond to support the people and places we serve. That commitment is built into who we are, both on and off the jobsite.

A recent example of that spirit came at Baker, where a campus garden was put at risk during the summer months. With extreme heat and a water shutoff threatening the plants’ survival, the garden’s future was uncertain while students and staff were away from campus.

That is when Soltek team member Joe Villani stepped in.

Thanks to Soltek’s very own green-thumbed hero, the garden was carefully watered and maintained throughout the break, staying alive until students and staff returned for the start of the school year. What could have been a lost garden became a thriving welcome back for the school community.

Joe’s kindness and initiative did not go unnoticed. In appreciation, teachers thanked him with baked goods, and students shared a signed card expressing their gratitude for Soltek’s very own hero.

Stories like this reflect what Soltek stands for. We are proud of the work we do in the field, but even more proud of the people behind it, team members who care deeply about making a difference in the communities we call home.
