Soltek Celebrates Halfway Point For Oak Park Elementary School’s New Music Building

Last Thursday marked another milestone for Soltek as we celebrated the halfway completion of the new Oak Park Elementary School Music Building. This event not only commemorated the progress on the impressive 9,750 sq. ft. music building but also highlighted a series of transformative updates set to enhance the entire school campus.

Scope of Work

Alongside the new music building, three new classroom buildings are being constructed, accommodating general education and kindergarten classes. This whole site modernization also includes the removal of 22 modular buildings and renovation of four existing structures, including the administration building. Safety enhancements, such as a new parking lot, dedicated drop-off/pick-up area, and single entry point, are underway. On-site improvements feature new play structures with shade covers, lighting, fencing, walkways, landscaping, accessible ramps, and retaining walls. Off-site utility connections for sewer and water are being established to support the expansion. These efforts aim to provide Oak Park Elementary with a secure, and exciting new learning environment.

A first for SDUSD

Earlier this year Oak Park Elementary was fortunate enough to receive the Magnet School Assistance Program grant. The grant will go toward a new media arts maker space and as a reflection of this, the school strives to change its name to Oak Park Music & Media Arts Magnet, making it the District's first Elementary Media & Arts Magnet School.

Soltek Empowers Creativity

The event, hosted in front of the soon-to-be-completed new music building, showcased a variety of performances by the Oak Park "Tempo Tigers," including band, guitar, and drum performances, representing just a few of the arts offered at Oak Park.

"It means a lot to be a part of building a school that helps these kids get more involved with the arts. Seeing the staff here be so dedicated to teaching these kids, it's outstanding." - Jim Vieira, Soltek Superintendent
