Soltek Awarded Steele Burnand Research Center

Soltek Pacific Construction Company has been awarded the highly coveted Design-Build Steele Burnand Anza-Borrego Desert Research Center – Phase 1 Renovation contract. Soltek was selected by the University of California, Irvine to renovate the building once known as the “Desert Club of Borrego Springs”. The architecturally significant building is an example of Desert Mid Century Modern design. Soltek teamed with the locally based architectural firm of rktequ to propose a design and construction plan that preserves the historically-significant architectural aesthetic while instituting structural, glazing, roofing and functional upgrades. Upon completion, scheduled for March 2012, the newly renovated building will serve the scientific community of University of California, Irvine for research and education of the Anza-Borrego Desert.
