Soltek’s $22 million 50-Bed Mental Crisis Facility project at the California Men’s Colony in San Luis Obispo, CA won the distinction of the 2013 Best Overall Green New Construction Award.

Each year the U.S. Green Building Council California Central Coast Chapter (USGBC-C4) recognizes construction projects as the Central Coast’s most unique, high-performing and most innovative green commercial construction projects. Judging criteria was based on energy efficiency/renewable energy, water conservation, sustainable materials use/reuse, indoor air quality improvement, waste reduction/diversion, public education and innovative design. The judging committee was particularly impressed with how this project was able to reduce its impact on natural resources and maximize efficiency all while creating a positive environment for staff and patients. The project is on track to receive LEED Gold Certification.
